Digital well-being, well…

I was recently invited to speak at a conference on Digital Well-being (techniques for Digital wellness). It was a three day conference organised by Brahmakumari’s campus in Mysore.

I was expected to talk about Digital well-being as an Educator. Broadly, all the speakers talked about the benefits and also challenges of conducting our lives in the digital connected world.

  • The key takeaways were about appropriate use of the Internet for young Learners.
  • Emotional safety and well being of students, particularly young students.
  • How much of technology and digital resources should we allow into our schools and at homes.
  • Use of smart phones and how to avoid obsession to smartphones, while we use it for all the benefits it delivers.
  • How to balance our engagements in the real world with what we do in the virtual world via smart dives?

Most of the conclusions were about limiting onscreen time. Discipline in switching off mobilephones, tablets for certain times of the day etc.

This was before the nCOVID crisis hit us. Nature had other plans. What an Irony!
