Schools when they reopen, the Impact and different viewpoints on the SOPs and Protocols

Almost everyone agrees that Online learning & assessments will continue to be relevant even in the post COVID new normal. Universally we are expecting Education system to approach “blended” learning or “blended Education”.

my personal opinion is also that while we need to get students back into schools at some point in time, when we have vaccination or a cure from COVID.

Even when that were to happen, the first phase of going to schools will be few students a day and to discuss with their relevant teacher. I india, I read a news announcement today that schools will be ready to receive very limited children with limited time for discussions with their teachers. The Government order also says that school will reopen on 1st of October, but not for regular classes, but for individual discussions with teachers. we will see how it works. What could be the risks, and the preventive SOP’s that need to be implemented by the Schools. This for grades 9-12. we have await further directions on how get them to use laboratory facilities etc. I am sure we will get more clarity over the coming days.

Their are many Champions of the Flip classroom method, where reading and knowledge acquisition, including books, assignments etc at Home. engagement with the parents and Grandparents may have to help such children.

When they come to school, they do their homework, projects, teamwork etc., facilitated by the Teacher. There are firm believers, and hence debates on both sides of this scenario. But he decision has to happen soon, as, only after that roles, and rules of Engagement will have clarity.

The soonest we get clarity, it will be a race to get to the full implementation of this concept.

The challenges will be about convincing them on tweaks that is done to the Education Model .hey have to trained and teacher mindset will have to change to a Post COVID new norms.

In case NEP implementation os rolled out, it will a huge paradigm shift it is best each school re-architecting their education, teaching-learning systems. Within a school, the discussions will have to prepared.

the most important is teacher training, as the pedagogic approaches could change radically over the next few year.

for every school, time has come, we have to discuss this internally and also possibly do a workshop involving a cluster of school or the “School complex” as recommended in the New Education Policy. Until now most schools operate is silo. It is time share resources, other resources like laboratories faculty training etc.

There plenty more to cover, I would advise each school to internally discus the NEP in detail, and in the next round debate it is a larger community of schools. With a compiled version we can collective discuss with the authorities at bot the State and the Federal Governments.

Let us all work together to fulfil the aspirations of children, and whey grow-up they will take on the mantle to create further improvements.
