I come across individuals who have an attitude that is best described as follows “I know everything about everything, and no other person knows anything at all”.
Most of us, and many great individuals such as scientists, political leaders and business leaders, and educators, have and continue to demonstrate: genuine humility, eager listeners, welcome contrasting ideas, hence become true leaders and high achievers.
This all about growing up, upbringing in the family, and inspiring examples in the schools and amongst colleagues.
It is often said, “Together we Grow”. The “Togetherness” is the spirit of humility, listening, learning from each other, etc.
If this is blocked out, an Individual stays ignorant, arrogant, unkind, cannot empathise with people or situations, and can be a risk to any organisation. Such individuals usually do not become good leaders and will never be high achievers.
I suspect that deep inside such individuals will feel a sense of having failed, jealousy, and disappointed with the world at large, often feeling ” I deserved more for the talent I have”.
And in most cases, such individuals continue to lead a life of mediocrity and dissatisfaction.
I am optimistic that school education empathises Educators, Leaders in education, politics, and business will mentor individuals to always seek to learn, and that is what life is all about.
